Malibu Popoyo Surf Camp — Summer 2026 I recently joined three of my friends for a week at Malibu Popoyo Surf Camp in Nicarauga. The instruction and experience overall was outstanding. Transportation: The prearranged transportation to and from the airport was very well organized, comfortable, and efficient. Accommodations: 
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and provided all the basic necessities. Each had its own individual climate controls, which was especially appreciated after a day in the hot sun. Staff and Service: 
Without exception, the entire staff was friendly, welcoming, and eager to assist whenever needed. Their hospitality contributed greatly to our overall experience. Food:
The food selection was excellent, with generous portions and a daily special each evening. There was plenty of variety throughout the week, and the meals were consistently enjoyable. Surf Training Program: 
The following day's itinerary and schedule were posted in advance in the central meeting area, making it easy to know what to expect each day. Our surfing guides, Jonny and Saddi, were highly qualified, friendly, and always available to provide assistance and instruction. Most days included a combination of yoga, land-based training covering the fundamentals of surfing, along with one or two surf sessions at various locations. The yoga scessions, with Dani, were particularly beneficial in warming up sore muscles prior to surfing or relaxing them before bedtime. On two occasions, our surf sessions were filmed. The footage was reviewed that evening after dinner, with the instructors providing personalized recommendations and constructive feedback to help us improve our technique. This was particularly valuable and added an excellent instructional component to the program. Spanish Instruction: 
For guests interested in improving their Spanish-speaking abilities, members of the staff were also available to provide one-on-one or small group Spanish lessons for a reasonable fee. Overall, our week at Malibu Popoyo Surf Camp was an excellent experience. The combination of professional surf instruction, comfortable accommodations, good food, friendly staff, and opportunities to improve our Spanish made it a memorable and worthwhile trip. I would highly recommend Malibu Popoyo to anyone looking for a well-organized surf camp with a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. Jaime

This was my first women’s surf retreat and it’s going to be really hard to beat!! The coaching was outstanding- I got some very useful feedback on my surfing and even got advice on changing my paddling that is relieving my chronic pain. The skatebowl was really fun, and nicely shaded and breezy. They took us to great waves, we visited both the usual breaks and more remote less crowded ones. We even got Lance’s all to ourselves for about a hour one morning!! The vibes were high- the staff, surf instructors and other surfers all felt like being around family. The resort itself was perfect- the rooms are spacious and flooded with natural light and fresh air, and the private semi-outdoor shower setup is architecturally ingenious. The food is healthy and delicious. 11/10, Hope to be back soon!

Once again the combination of OMBE and Malibu Popoyo have hit a home run. The accommodation, the food, the awesome staff (who are now familia), the coaching - all mind blowingly fantastic. The skate bowl is invaluable to the progress made, too. I made new friends for life and I’m already looking forward to the next one with everyone. Can’t hardly wait!

Malibu Popoyo is a magical place cared for by wonderful, welcoming people. Spending time there with the OMBE family has enriched my life beyond measure. Sikk-AF.

Great time. The surf instructors (Johnny and Dayton) were awesome and Ernesto (Tito) and the entire staff of Malibu Popoyo are incredible. Love the place and will plan to come back (again)!
